Controlling MosquitoesDraining standing water is one effective mosquito control method as it eliminates places where they could possibly breed. If you have a pond or water trough for animals, however, this isn't really a viable option. One natural way to control mosquitoes in this type of situation is to purchase some mosquito-eating fish (such as the Gambusia affinis) and to plant them in the affected impoundments and waterways. A single fish may consume over a hundred mosquito larvae in one day.Comments8/30/2006 3:48:42 PMCarol said: Where can I buy mosquito-eating fish for an unused swimming pool. I read in this month's Guidepost Magazine about how these little fish were put into stagnant swimming pools in the New Orleans area after the Katrina disaster. 9/7/2006 10:44:44 PM edward finn said: seems reasonable willthese fish live in storm water retention facilities and where can i get them
